“For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.”
Hebrews 10:14
Did you know that when you repented of your sins and accepted Christ as your Savior that you were made perfect? How can we be perfect, I surely thought when we reached perfection we would be taken home to Heaven. Well, the perfection this is talking about isn’t an earthly perfection. It means that through the blood of Christ that we accepted God now sees us perfected, that he no longer sees the ugly gulf of sin that we once had. Through Christ and his sacrifice we have been made clean and presentable to God as white as snow. That is not the end we are constantly being made holy through the Holy Spirit.
The scripture continues to say,
“And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,
“This is the new covenant I will make
with my people on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”
Then he says,
“I will never again remember
their sins and lawless deeds.”
“And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.” Hebrews 10:16-18
Being forgiven is a wonderful experience. So many things happen, mainly you begin to blossom and grow in all areas; heart, body, mind and soul. You begin to see things differently as the Holy Spirit opens your heart and mind and you begin to be more like Christ. The things that you once enjoyed lose their flavor and you crave God and the things of God. You want to grow more in his wisdom and knowledge. Does being made holy and perfect in his sight mean we have “made it” and we have obtained all we set out to gain? By all means no, we have to continue to be careful not to get too comfortable with ourselves and where we are in our walk with God. We need to remember that there is no neutral, you are either moving forward or backward, forward is a good thing. It means your relationship with Christ is getting stronger and you are becoming more like him daily. If this is not describing your walk with him you can turn it around and have the close relationship you desire to have by repenting of your sins, being sorry for your actions and turning from the ways of your past, and asking Christ to cleanse you and make you clean and presentable unto God and ask him to come and live inside you forever. By your confession of faith that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that Christ is God’s Son whom he raised from the dead you will be saved, Romans 10:9-10. This is a big step, it isn’t easy but it isn’t hard, once you make the first step towards forgiveness and salvation Christ is with you all the way. He never leaves you alone or lost; scripture says in Joshua 1:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” All the other times you have felt lost and alone those will be no more once you accept life with Christ. What a wondrous feeling! I pray your walk is right and if not it sure can be, give God the chance he wants to give you. God bless…
